Imagistone Frequently Asked Questions
What is Imagistone?
Imagistone is an overlay that is applied directly over the existing countertops in kitchens and bathrooms as well as tubs and showers. Imagistone is multi-component overlay that incorporates a unique blend of hardening polymers. When appropriately cared for, Imagistone provides strength, durability, and beauty for many years to come. Imagistone can be used for new construction and remodel situations too in kitchens and bathroom vanities.
What does Imagistone look like?
Imagistone has a uniform look like an engineered stone product than granite. We believe the best way to experience Imagistone is to come into the showroom and take a look. We are located in Carrollton at 1411 Lemay Drive, Suite 102. We are generally located near the northeast corner of I-35 and 190-Bush Turnpike.
What are the existing surfaces you can put Imagistone over?
We can apply Imagistone over most existing kitchens and bathroom surfaces including laminate, Formica, Corian and new construction materials.
How do you do the edging?
We believe that edging options change the look of existing formica and laminate countertops. Existing squared off laminate edges can be modified to look like a slab of stone. This unique capability upgrades and enhances the architectural profile of the new countertops. Edging options include:
• Bullnose with normal, slant or rounded corners
• Stacked with normal, slant or rounded corners
• Waterfall
What is a running foot? Is that the same as a square foot?
A running foot is 12 inches of countertop length. It can also be the same as a linear foot. However, width is not a factor using a running foot unit of measure. Imagistone prices kitchen countertops by the running foot. We believe it's the simplest way to measure and calculate pricing. Running foot is not the same as square feet units of measure. Imagistone does not use square feet to calculate pricing for countertops.
Do you have a showroom?
Yes, we are located in Carrollton at 1411 Lemay Drive, Suite 102. We are near the northeast corner of I-35 and 190. We are open on Friday and Saturday 10a-5pm. No appointment is necessary.
Why are you only open on Fridays and Saturdays?
These are open showroom hours only. Our corporate office is open Mon-Saturday 10am-5pm. The showroom is open by appointment throughout the week from Monday-Thursday. Over the years we have found that the majority of people shop for countertops on the weekends with their friends and family. That is why the showroom is open on Fridays and Saturdays. No appointment is necessary on Fridays and Saturdays. We gladly will work with any schedule you require. However, we are always closed Sundays.
Do you do under mount sinks?
No, we do not do under mount sinks. The reason is simple. Most of the countertops we overlay upon are laminate. Most laminates are made of particle board underneath. Future water damage could occur from an under mounted sink.
What about existing sinks & stoves?
We can work around most sinks and stoves. However, should you want to update the existing sink or stove, remove it prior to installation. Wait 72 hours after the Imagistone installation to install the new sink or stove.
Do you have a warranty?
Yes, Imagistone offers a 1 year warranty. However, we really don't think about a customer in terms of in warranty or out of warranty. We always focus first on getting the customers countertop back to its original condition. We do not charge our customers most repairs like knife cuts or chips even if it's years after the original installation. If it's an extensive repair like damage that occurred from a kitchen fire or water damage then we charge by the hour. We never charge for any warranty repairs.
When Does Imagistone Make Sense For Bathrooms?
The simple and surprising answer is that Imagistone in bathrooms seldom makes sense in new construction. Imagistone requires some type of existing sub surface to apply to. It would make little sense to install a new cultured marble tub and immediately apply Imagistone to it. Imagistone's stone or tile showers do make sense in new construction or remodel situations. These are very beautiful and affordable.
Imagistone in remodel bathrooms makes enormous sense. The obvious advantages are practical and economic. Practical because no tear out is required and economical because of the dollar savings. Take for example a cultured marble double sink in the master vanity. Most of these have been custom made when the home was originally built. The cost to tear out and custom replace can range from $1,200 to $5,000 depending on the type of surface desired. Imagistone costs a fraction of the price and can make these vanities more beautiful than when they were new.
These same scenarios are true for tubs and tub/shower combinations. The tear out and replacement of tubs and combinations is a very expensive undertaking. Normally, Imagistone can be applied to these existing surfaces for a fraction of the price and the look is stunning.

Imagistone Provides Stone and Tile for Backsplashes and Showers
Recently, we began doing stone showers as well. See our work on our website. Sometimes and much to the homeowners disappointment, an existing shower is not a good candidate for Imagistone's overlay product. This is usually because hardiboard or cement board was not originally installed behind the tile. Mold and moisture have ruined the existing grout and tile in the showerpan and sides of the shower area. Let's not blame the builder though since cement board was not readily available for homes built prior to 1985. In this case a tear out of exisitng tile and new installation of tile or stone is just the answer. We can do shower pans too. Stone shower prices start at $700 for a basic install to $1,000 for showers.

FLAT-EDGE/FLAT FEE PRICING
I am often asked whether Imagistone® can be installed without edging options. The answer is yes on existing surfaces and no on new construction. A majority of laminate installed in kitchens over the past 20 years has been done so with straight (180degree) edge. Since our inception over 6 years ago, we have had great demand by our customers to change their straight edges. We offer Bullnose, Stacked and Waterfall edging. This edging process is one that Imagistone developed and to my knowledge no one else does with any degree of success. Our custom edging is beautiful but is the most time consuming part of our installation process.
Given the current environment, we had many customers looking to minimize costs. We are responding to this condition with FLAT-EDGE/FLAT FEE PRICING. We can now save our customers about 20% more off the purchase price of Imagistone®.
FLAT-EDGE/FLAT FEE PRICING is based on the following model: $875 without a backsplash, $900 if you have a 6" tall backsplash and $975 if you have a tall(over 6" high) backsplash. This special covers up to 25 running feet of surface and 20 running feet of backsplash.
An additional charge does apply if you have a wood edge on your laminate surfaces.
Imagistone® remains a tremendous value. Go to www.imagistone.com to learn more about Imagistone®.

THE NEW CONSUMER AND IMAGISTONE:
The past 24 months have been a time of great upheaval in our world of consumption at any costs and pay by the month. There has been a firestorm of immense turmoil and those left standing will be profoundly changed. One of those things left standing but dramatically changed, will be how and what individuals consume. Most have heard the adage that "fire purifies". The landscape has been forever changed and the consumer will be the benefactor.
Companies have relied upon the consumer for decades to make impulsive decisions to purchase based upon emotions and the need for instant gratification. Sales and marketing campaigns were psychologically created to manipulate the consumer to this end and was fueled by the consumer having access to easy credit.
The consumer purchasing habits, out of necessity, have been materially altered. The new consumer is discrete and knowledgeable. The new consumer demands that a product perform as advertised and when it doesn't, that companies back their products. Companies that are unable or willing to adapt to the new consumer will not survive.
Imagistone is excited about the new consumer and how we fit into this new market. We have always focused on the following:
1)Educate the consumer, the product should sell itself. If our education process leads you in a different direction, then you have made the right choice for you and us.
2)Deliver our surfaces to our consumer in the same high quality that we would demand if we were installing in our own home and deliver it just as it was described during the education process.
3)Products, like people are not perfect. When our surface is not perfect, we take care of it. It is more often less expensive to simply make the necessary repair than it is to assess blame and have an unhappy customer. If the education process (1) above was properly communicated, you will find much less dissatisfaction than what you might imagine. Years after installation, we make repairs associated with normal use to customer surfaces without charge
Our advantage over other kitchen and bath surfaces is enormous. Laminate, granite and manmade stone are often beautiful surfaces when new, but are not "renewable" (once damaged there is not much that can be done to repair). With Imagistone, there exists very few types of damage that cannot be readily repaired.
While these times have been challenging for all of us, I am convinced that the "fire" will leave us with a new consumer who will change how products and services are delivered and will brandish "brand loyalty" as has never been seen before.
